CREMATORIUMS

A one-chamber gas-cleaning unit was installed and commissioned in February of this year in the crematorium in Kristiansand, Norway. Process optimization is work underway. To date mercury removal rates of 94 percent have been achieved. It has been demonstrated that the process is easy to operate and control. It is noteworthy that, because of the small size of the unit, no major structural changes were required for its installation. Cost effective installation of this unit in other crematoriums should be therefore possible.
